Stories. We’ve all got them. And sharing them with others is a compelling mechanism for human connection, empowerment, learning and cross-cultural understanding. Being an intent listener and believing in the power of stories to engage, uplift and promote empathy, Kara began her work in storytelling during Goddard College’s MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts program. She has shared stories live, curated Audio Under The Barn, a story telling event at Goddard created by alum Amy Unell, and made audio stories from conversations with elder residents of Nevins Family of Services. She continues to find people’s stories (and how they tell them) utterly fascinating and works to make voices heard through various platforms.

It Goes Like This… storytelling events

The innovative, outdoor Starlight Square in Central Square, Cambridge hosted the latest IGLT event on September 11, 2020. We listened, we watched, we sang, we moved and we were TOGETHER. Not even a pandemic could bring down the power of our stories. Many thanks to Yani Batteau, Joan Green, Ashley-Rose, Tashawn Taylor, J. Michael Winward and Aysha Upchurch for sharing their stories, to Emily Caulfield for her design work, Stephen Serwacki for his woodworking and undying support, and The Dance Complex staff and Central Square Business Improvement District for hosting us at Starlight.
